I've noticed that in the latest snes9x release (1.53), the readme and license .txt files are not in DOS/Windows text format, but in Unix format. As a consequence, when they are opened in Notepad -- which is the default Windows behaviour for opening .txt files -- the newlines are garbled:
Having them in DOS/Windows format would no doubt make the Windows build more {noob,user}-friendly

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?
