Re: problems w/ official snes controller for switch

we'd need more info to have any chance of trying to help. what platform are you using (windows, mac, linux)? what else changed on your pc (OS updates, Steam now running in background, Joy2Key or other macro software installed or updated, etc)? does the controller work in anything else besides snes9x?

Re: Windows 11 Controller Trouble

you mentioned Steam - do you have Steam running in the background? if so, shut it down; it's likely capturing input (which can interfere with legacy DirectInput programs).

Re: Windows 11 Controller Trouble

try running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer - snes9x may be relying on older DirectInput/XInput components which are no longer included in Windows.

Re: Controller causing Snes9x to act crazy

it would only apply to the snes9x core run within RetroArch - RA handles the input, and then passes that processed input into the emulator "core" that's doing the heavy lifting.

for questions on the RA side, i suggest hitting up r/RetroArch (old.reddit link).

Re: Controller causing Snes9x to act crazy

look at how the "axis" values change when you move the thumbsticks, and then see what they return to when you leave the sticks in a neutral position (this should be very close to zero). i suspect that you'll see larger values in the neutral position when the controller is connected via 2.4...

Re: Controller causing Snes9x to act crazy

i'm guessing that the analog deadzones differ between hardwired and 2.4GHz modes; you could confirm this using a test utility such as https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad

Re: Input settings saved, but not being applied

are you using snes9x via retroarch, or using snes9x EX/EX+? if the latter, you'll want to reach out directly to the author (website/GitHub issues).

Re: it seems like...

if you have Steam (or another application which grabs controller input) running in the background, that could be your issue.

Re: [FEATURE] Fast Forward Hold Down Button

Fast Forward currently exists as a toggle button. While this is great, I would really like a button I could manually hold and release for short bursts of speed. go to Input -> Customize Hotkeys... and change "Fast forward toggle" to "Disabled". Also, can we get some more granula...

more info is necessary for anyone to try and help. what platform are you using - Windows, Linux, MacOS? are you talking about battery save files, or savestates? where did you get these files - did you create them locally and now they won't load, or did you download them from elsewhere? under Emulati...

Re: Snes9x loads in Hypespin but then error waiting for window Snes9x ahk_class

you're better off looking for support from RocketLauncher; if snes9x is working fine by itself, the issue isn't on the snes9x end.

Re: [v1.60] File Associations, valid.ext, and the Power User

in 1.62 or later, per issue 787 : You can now go into the menu under Emulation->Settings and uncheck the box that says add Snes9x to registry. Clicking OK will delete any entries created. You can set AddToRegistry to false under the [Settings] label in the snes9x.conf file before launching if you're...

the fifth post after yours on this page has the answer.

source is available at the github repo. the automated builder for Mac is currently not working (see here), but this issue has a build available at the bottom of the page.
