Snes9x.com

I've been using Snes9x for quite a few years now, but since I got the new release (1.53) I have been having an awkward problem: Everytime I load a ROM through Ctrl + O or File > Load Game... Snes9x stops working for around 10 seconds and then loads the ROM. When I try using 1.52.fix4 or any older version it works just great, is it a bug or is there an option I should change for it to work? I've tried messing with quite a lot of them. By the way I'm using Windows 7 x64, both 1.53 releases x86 and x64 present the same result.

The latest test build (03052013) presents the same problem here, also I'm pretty sure my DirectX is updated because everytime I install one of my games Steam automatically checks if my DirectX version is the most updated one. Also my Windows is updated, so it's supposed to have auto downloaded DirectX too. Any other idea?

Just tried disabling both my antivirus and firewall just to be positive that wasn't the problem, it didn't change anything.

take a look in the system event log - see if a storage device is timing out.

I'm not quite sure I understand, once I'm in the system event log, then I run Snes9x and try loading a game, what am I supposed to look for?

check if your video drivers are updated and properly installed.

also check your PC with CCleaner.

I've got myself a GTX 760, so my gpu drivers are always up to date through GeForce Experience, also I always "clean" my PC with Advanced SystemCare.

Just did it, opened the system log, executed Snes9x, tried loading a game, waited for it to unfreeze, then I refreshed the system log and the counter on "Last hour" (which seems do indicate events that happened in the last hour) didn't change. I can't seen to solve my problem.

I think you have issues with Windows, since you are the only one that have this bug.

try install Windows again (clean install).

I'm sure it's a issue with something installed on my system, but I won't reinstall my Windows just because I can't get the emulator to work properly. If I happen to format my PC any soon I'll test the emulator again and bump the topic. Thanks for the help anyway.

It's probably related to some new feature on 1.53 and kept on the later releases, as 1.52.fix4 and older versions work well.

when your Snes9x is stuck... check processes in task manager, maybe there is some process using CPU 99%.

That's pretty much the first thing I did, forgot to mention it here.

maybe is some "tool" in your modified Windows causing it, and not an issue from Snes9x, so no idea how we can help you.
