Setting to let me use pc WHILE Snes9X is recording AVI?

I've recently started using Snes9x for recording gameplay. I will hit "Movie record," then play the game, and when I'm done, hit Movie Play, then hit Start AVI recording.
The problem with this is, the gameplay footage is usually pretty long, and if Snes9x is not the active window, it stops. So I can't use my PC at all for 45 minutes, or an hour, or more.
Is there any way to make it continue to record, regardless of what I'm doing on my PC, so I can still use my computer?
