cant save state anymore

hi all, i cant seem to be able to save state in my super mario cookie crisis anymore??but i still can in kaizo, so....bad version of cookie??also if anyone knows where i can find the full version id be greatfull, thank you and enjoy the gaming from back in my day...wow now i just dated myself
