Input settings saved, but not being applied

As the title says, the emulator says my input settings are saved (PS4 controller A=O, B=X, Y=Square, X=Triangle) but when I launch a game, it doesn't seem to recognise my custom settings (Noticed because triangle is still the roll in DKC no matter what I change the input to) I'm on an Andriod phone

are you using snes9x via retroarch, or using snes9x EX/EX+? if the latter, you'll want to reach out directly to the author (website/GitHub issues).
