[v1.53] Hotkeys not working on the assigned button(s) + J(3) instead of J(1)... How to fix?

I have stumbled upon 2 issues i really cannot figure out how to fix...
Issue #1: I am using S9x v1.53 with 2x PS4-controllers to play some 2P-games. While it works to play the game normally in 2-player mode, assigning hotkeys to the controllers, like loading states, does simply not work. I wonder if this can be related to issue #2... None of the hotkeys work, but otherwise, it works fine.
Issue #2: When i map the buttons for player 1, it says J(3) instead of J(1)... why's that and how do i fix so it says J(1)?
Anyone who can help with these 2 issues?
