I play with a wired controller and whenever I accidentally disconnect it, I can't play the game after reconnecting it. My controller responds in the input menu, but never in the game itself. This means I can loose progress easily. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Look in the input menu, there should be a option called check for input changes. Try that. It might work.
