Cheat .cht file help for Snes9x Gx

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for help regarding Snes9x Gx as I'm not sure if it's the same developers who made Snes9x.
I'm having some issues getting cheats to enable on Snes9x Gx on the Wii specifically for FFVI. I've tried multiple .cht files as well as creating a .cht through Snes9x and moving the .cht file to Gx. I'm able to view load the file but the issue is actually getting them to enable and work. I've been trying to find out how to edit .cht files but been having no luck. Does anyone know what program is needed to create or modify the .cht file? Thank you
