My USB Gamecube controller can be mapped but doesn't work

My USB Gamecube controller can be mapped in the config, but it doesn't work.... and yes I am using Joypad #1 and checked snes joypad option but it still doesnt work. the controller that im using is a pdp wired fightpad pro (a gamecube controller) for nintendo switch...should I change my controller??
