Connecting 2 xbox controlls to snes?

Hi
First post here and i could really use some help.
I download snes9x and can plug in my first controller and everything runs the way i want it to, but whenever the second controller gets plugged in snes freezez and doesnt respond, without changing anything, simply by plugging it into the computer. Please help
