USB Controller lag

Post by dudethedude »

Hello,

My room mate bought one of those cheapo giga tech USB controllers or whatever, I got it to work on snes9x on my mac, running updated version of snes9x as well as updated mac osx 10.7.5. The controller "works" but it has milliseconds worth of lag that mean life or death on classic mario-type games. I know on TVs this can happen because of lag between the TV input and what the user sees, but on a macbook I don't really know.

Can anyone advise on what I can do? Stick to RPGs lol?

Thanks.

Weird..never heard of that.
Honestly though the best gamepad is simply the 360 controller...works by just plugging it in.

try disabling vsync and/or triple buffering - they can actually hold up the display by an entire frame.

I don't think it's a problem with the controller actually. I'm noticing when I hit the keyboard key Mario also jumps late. I'll try disabling Vsync and triple buffering when I get home. Where are those options if I can't find them?

Under Video. I play with both of those on and see no issues...but he is right...vsync can throw off lag. This is one of the main reasons you do not use vsync in competitive FPS on pc.
