[Request] SNES-NTSC drawing and 1280x720 resolution

Post by pSXfanatic »

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a SNES-NTSC composite drawing method and support for 1280x720 in a future release

as you can probably tell by my nick, I'm somewhat of an emulation fan :)

that said, I'm almost computer-illiterate so if this doesn't make much sense, you don't get it at all, or you need me to show you what I'm talking about, just say so.

I'm not sure if it's kosher to name other emulators around here, but there's a NES emu that has a NES-NTSC drawing method to make the games look exactly like they were on your non-flatscreen TV all those years ago

also, the 1280x720 thing is just because I despise those black bars on my "fullscreen", CURSE THEM, CURSE THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES! *shakes an angry fist*

anyway, thanks for your time, keep up the great work.

I don't know about the Windows port of SNES9x, but the Linux port has included blargg's snes_ntsc filter for ages.

As for stretching the output to wide-screen... well, there's a lot of different opinions about exactly which is the right aspect ratio for SNES output, but 16:9 is pretty definitely wrong. It's probably possible in the current version by tinkering with the various scaling options, but I leave you to figure it out.

oh well, then just add blargg's filter to the windows port please :)

then again, it might just be a case of me being computer illiterate and not being able to find it.

thanks for the reply btw

As of 1.52 all three ports contain blaarg's filter. It's called "Blaarg's NTSC (XYZ)" in the windows port.

As for losing all black bars: enable streching and disable "maintain aspect ratio".

Holy cow, those are impressive. I'd more-or-less forgotten about the filtering after I decided I didn't care for 2xSai et cetera. I just may start using these ones though...
