How do I play 'BS The Legend of Zelda: Third Quest' ?

Post by pitoloko »

I'm very, very confused with this rom and how to proceed with it in snes9x emulator...

Please note that the roms can be donwloaded from here: http://www.google.com (Admin edit: do not link to ROMs/ROM sites, thank you.)

The one I'm using has this checksum info:

Code: Select all

Actual Checksum: F4C2
Header Checksum: 7F94
Header Checksum Compliment: 806B
CRC32:	DD9F765F
I don't know why, maybe because the rom is patched it does not require Stellaview BS-X bios to load. Anyways I ensured to download the BS-X bios and put it as "BS-X.bin" file inside the BIOS folder as explained by @OV2 in this comment: viewtopic.php?p=56616#p56616

The problem I have are with the controls, the game loads up to this screen:

and I can press start key, but I cannot use the directional keys up/left/right/down so I can't select the "Register your name" option to play this game.

It is very strange because I found gameplays on youtube of people that can use the controls...

So... is this a problem of snes9x emulator itself?. Why I can't use the controls up/left/right/down?. What I'm missing?.

Note that I'm using snes9x v1.60 x64.

the original game (NES/FDS) requires you to use the select button on the menu screen; it wouldn't surprise me if this game is the same.

Thanks!

As you said, it is like that.

Then problem was for some reason I had the Select button mapped as: "shift", but I noticed this is not left shift neither right shift because those keyboard keys are represented as "L Shift" and "R Shift" when mapped in snes9x. For that reason I had the wrong feeling that only the Start button was working in the game, because I were not "pressing" Select with L shift or R shift keyboard keys.

I just remapped the key so now I can use Select button to navigate within the Zelda game.
