Snes9x 1.60 x64 Shutting down as soon as opneed

I've barely been able to start playing Secret of Evermore as 9x shuts down before I even get control of the game. I'm running off of Windows 10, and made sure to run compatibility, and yet it still shuts down prematurely. I don't know what's going on. Please help. Thanks

first, there's no need to change any compatibility settings for snes9x 1.60 under Win10 - so i would undo any changes you made there.

second, are you getting any error messages, or is Snes9x just closing silently?

if it's closing silently - you didn't accidentally configure a hotkey for "Quit Snes9x" that matches one of your inputs, did you?
