Haha, are you kidding? Plenty of us middle-agers in the retrogaming and emulation scene. I imagine a lot of the folks who wrote the current retro emulators are also our age or older for the most part.

Re: Recent 9x sound improvement
This can speed up your CPU — and therefore speed up your computer if your computer is limited by its CPU — but the CPU will produce additional heat. It may become physically damaged if you don’t provide additional cooling, or it may be unstable and cause your computer to blue-screen or restar...

Re: SNES9X only detects controller if plugged in before opening
FWIW, I have the same issue with Xbox 360 and One controllers. If they aren't on when I fire up the emulator (MAME and FCEUX have the same issue) then they don't work. I have to close the emulator then relaunch for the controllers to work.

1) This belongs in the tech support forums. I will move it.
2) Chances are good the patch is bad, or it's not patching correctly. Has anyone else verified the patch works?

Re: Snes9x and 144 Hz monitors.
Part of the issue, the static-y/choppy part sounds like an audio buffer issue. Try adjusting the buffer length and see how that helps. Not sure why the pitch would be altered like that though.

Re: prioritise 100% speed over fps
I believe enabling frame skipping, or allowing for greater frame skipping, will do what you request. If it gets bad though, it can start to look really choppy. I would think your system should be able to do that, it's much newer than mine (4th gen i5 in mine vs the 8th gen in yours) but I also have ...

Given the distance between them it seems like this would be unlikely, but you might be running into an issue of key rollover. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_(key)

You may need to record the output differently, the sample you provided had no crackling evident when I played it.

It's pretty slow these days. Most of the "action" is bot spam that no one sees because of rules I've implemented that keeps them from ever appearing.

A number of those have easy solutions. I'm going to assume you haven't bothered to Google/search for anything and/or never have used Windows before (at least one of your problems is adjusted the same way since Windows 95), you've just gotten frustrated and are now venting here?

Re: Sound issues + Crash
Let me get the "dumb" question out of the way: Are you using the newest version of Snes9x? After answering that, what kind of information is displayed about the ROMs you are loading? Improperly dumped ROMs can cause all kinds of issues. Saves being corrupt, various things in game not worki...
