Snes9x Not Opening on Mac

Hello all,
Slight problem here that I can't seem to figure out. I downloaded version 1.53 for the Mac, and initially the program works fine. I was able to load any ROM I had, as long as I never quit the application. Once I quit Snes9x though and tried to re-open it, it simply won't do anything. It hangs for awhile in a non-responsive state, and then eventually gives up. If I drag it to trash and then restart, and re-install, it works again for the initial use, but not past that.
I'm running OSX Lion 10.7.2 on a mid-2011 MacBook Pro.
