xbox one controller problems

hello. my problem is when im trying to set up controls for Super mario world on my xbox one controller, none of the buttons ( x y a b) want to bind to a normal jump. they all bind to spin jumps. i can only preform a proper jump if i bind it to a shoulder button. is there a fix for this?
