Snex9x does not run ROMs opened by double clicking

I'm setting this up for a friend's young daughter along with other console emulators so I want the whole thing to be as simple as double clicking a game to run it. No looking for the right emulator for the right game.
.smc files are associated with Snex9x. However ROMs opened by double clicking the ROMs will open Snex9x but Snex9x will not run the ROMs automatically.
