Our Mac port maintainer left us, and the latest release was done by some kind soul.
Aside from general advice, you'll have to find someone with knowledge of the Mac port.
I can suggest making sure the controller works in other apps, then in Snes9x choosing configure controllers from the config menu. Click each button of the desired controller, then press the joystick button you want associated with it.
