SNES9X sound lag

Why does my SNES9X emulator sound lag when I play Youtube / Twitch / Vimeo videos in my browser? It's not browser-specific, as I've tested this across at least three browsers.
I'm not sure how to find my sound card specs on my system, so if someone could let me know how to do that, this would be great!
