Can't open ROM through the explorer

I'm on Windows 10, using s9x 1.53. Tried with both 32 and 64-bit versions and no luck. I can open a ROM by starting snes9x and loading it, but double-clicking won't work on the ROM (which has the correct association set by snes9x itself). I need this fixed because apparently it messes up with 3rd party launchers, namely Launchbox which I've been trying to use with no success. The emulator opens but the game doesn't start, much like trying to double click the file.
