SNES9X Not working on Mac OS X 10.1 (El Capitan)? Help

Hey guys,
I had SNES9X awhile ago on my windows, but I got a new Mac Laptop and whenever I run SNES9X, it will attempt to go full screen, glitch out and return to a window with a black screen. Nothing happens, the program stalls then I have to Force Quit. Any ideas what to do? Thank you!
