The initial menu by nightfall give the possibility to use the "slowrom fix"... but Snes9x 1.53 don't give the possibility to select the option...
Instead, with the znes 1:51 there is not problem.

the hack you're using is probably broken on real hardware as well. i'd recommend using a clean (unmodified) version of the ROM.
