Random Slowdown and audio slowdown.

Hey, so I'm doing some LPs for my youtube channel, and I actually just finished a Final Fantasy IV hack LP without any slowdown or audio issues with emulation. However, today I tried to record an episode for Chrono Trigger and in three places during my recording, there was some slowdown at one point in video, and then in two other places I experienced audio slowdown as well. After this, I checked the frame rate and it was running at 60 fps (the lowest I saw it drop was 58 and there was no noticeable effect).

These are my specs (copied from speccy):

Operating System
MS Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2
CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Kentsfield 65nm Technology
RAM
3.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz (5-5-5-18)
Motherboard
ELITEGROUP 680IT-GB (CPU 1)
Graphics
Acer S201HL (1280x768@60Hz)
512MB GeForce 8600 GT (ASUStek Computer Inc)

I know SNES hardware isn't that hard to run...so does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Or maybe give me an idea of what optimum settings for the emulator might be? Thanks in advance!

it's quite likely that the slowdown would've happened on real hardware (i.e. this isn't an emulator issue).
