Can't run any .exe/.zip files after uninstalling Snes9x

This is a major issue and I have no idea how to fix.
Every .exe/.zip file I download now registers as a Snes9x file, so when I try to run it, it says "Application not found."
I need to be able to run .exe files to install other things...can someone help?
