When I'm in game, I press start to go to my map and status screens. But when I want to return to gameplay (which would be done by pressing start) I can't.

Uh.. while you're in the map screen:

1) can you switch screens with L/R?
2) does the music play normally?
3) is the game froze?

Would anybody be able to solicit the advice of the creators/coders of SNES9X?
I have no advice. I can return to gameplay from map/status screen by pressing start. Snes9x 1.51 (85) for Mac OS X.

perhaps it's a dodgy key that you set START to? try mapping the start button to some other key.

Tried it. And just now retried it. Doesn't work. Remember, the start button works fine going into the map/status screen.

Another vantage point:

Whenever I, in game, came across the map upload machine for a certain area and use it, it takes me directly to the map/status screen and I cannot get out of it.

Thanks guys...

I'm super happy right now.

I had given up on this ROM but I wanted to give it another shot. While looking at some of my configurations, I observed that under my "Config" on my toolbar and under "Automatic Fire..." that my start button was programmed to toggle automatic firing or something (I have no idea why it was, I don't ever remember messing with auto fire). I simply disabled the auto fire for that button and *ding* problem solved.

I will now be enjoying some time with Samus. :)

I created a profile here simply to say Thank You. I have no idea why SNES9X defaults to the Start button being Turbo enabled but this gave me the exact same issue. Never would've thought to check there and certainly would've given up on this.

Thank you.

This might be a bug we may need to look into.

I'm sure it's been looked into many times, seeing as this thread was started sometime in 2009....

I meant by regarding as to why turbo keeps getting enabled and yet nobody is actually turning on turbo.
