Controller not working in SNES9x but works when I map buttons! Please Help!

I am having an issue with SNES9x.

I can set up the controller just fine in settings but the controller DOES NOT work in any game.

A Google search only showed one relevant result where someone can map the controller but it does not work in game, but the solution to his problem is irrelevant to me.

He was mapping it to controller three and was told to map it to controller one.

Mine IS being mapped to controller ONE, but the problem persists.

I am using a PS4 controller on Windows using DS4Windows.

The controller works in literally everything else except SNES9x. This includes the oldschool ZNES. But a randomizer requires SNES9x and I cannot play it due to this issue

Does anybody know what the problem could be?
