Steam Steelseries controller issues

Post by snesman486 »

Hello all,

I recently downloaded Snes9x and decided to use my Steam Steelseries stratus duo for Windows to play. Initially I had no problem, as I am using it via USB connection; the controller initially mapped fine and worked perfectly.

However, starting Tuesday night, when I would unplug the controller to end my sessions and go to bed, upon awakening Wednesday morning, my Snes9x no longer responded to the buttons being pushed. I have it mapped to Joypad #1, and had to go through a massive headache yesterday to re-map the controller, at which point I finally got it working after about two hours.

Ended my session last night (Illusion of Gaia <3) and put the controller away. Lo and behold this morning, the roms and Snes9x are no longer responding to any input from the Steelseries controller. I cannot even remap the buttons today for some reason.

This is a brand new controller. It works perfectly with my steam games and seems to be working well with NEStopia NES emulator.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here and how to get the Snes9x to permanently recognize the device?

  • if snes9x is open when you reconnect the controller, it won't see it.
  • another program (like Steam) might be grabbing inputs - try making sure no other programs that respond to the controller are open.

i've confirmed the latter is the case with a Dualshock 4 connected via Bluetooth - if Steam is open and is set to configure the controller, Snes9x won't see it. shut down Steam, and it works beautifully.
