Snes9x 1.53 for Windows, Windows 8, & DirectX 11.

Post by natsumerio »

I downloaded Snes9x 1.53 for Windows a few days ago, & I've been having some problems getting it to run at all. (I assume that I can't tell you where I downloaded it from, because the site also has ROMS on it.)

Anyway, at first Snes9x 1.53 wouldn't run at all, although it did tell me that I was missing d3dx9_38.dll, so I downloaded that DLL file from a site that has DLL files for download, & put the DLL file in the same folder that Snes9x 1.53 is in. Now Snes9x 1.53 does play, but I still always get this error message before it does so.
Unable to initialize XAudio2. You will not be able to hear any
sound effects or music while playing

This is usually caused by not having a recent DirectX release installed.
This is insane, because Windows 8 is telling me that I have DirectX 11 installed (see the 4 attached images).

I'm hoping that I can fix Snes9x 1.53 for Windows's "XAudio2" complaint by just downloading a specific DLL file & putting it in the same folder that Snes9x 1.53 is in, but I don't know which DLL file I should look for (or even if that will fix the "XAudio2" complaint or not). Does anybody know which DLL file I should look for?

Windows 8 has DX11 installed, but not the required version of DirectX9. Install it via the installer from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=35
