Hi, first sorry my english
I post another problem on this post,
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5771
but i end with this Direct3D error
Failed to initialize currently selected display output!
Try switching to a different output method in the display settings.
I solve using 3Danalize+"Emulate HW TnL", and then open snes9x, now snes9x+direct3d works perfect, and MUCH faster than OpenGL
I test in four machines:
Laptop Pentium M centrino 1200 + GMA915
Laptop Pentium M 800 + intel 8250
Desktop Athlon XP 1000 + SiS620
Desktop Pentium 3 866 + Riva TNT2
In all this machines, direct3d mode was much faster than OpenGL, but of course i need to 3Danalize+"Emulate HW TnL" or snes9x will not open with the failed error
I test 60 different games, PAL & NTSC, and i did not see any graphical error. Everything works perfect like in direct draw or opengl, but much much faster
In the Pentium M even i can use simple4x filter! in opengl are a little slow, and in directdraw impossible
I know is not a bug, but maybe is something easy to fix, and a lot of old videocards will work
Thanks!!

Re: snex9x + Direct3D = Failed to initialize ... SOLVED
the only "Video Card" in that list is the Riva TNT.

seriously? op says english isn't his first language and yet you nitpick on terminology in what is a remarkably useful post for users of older graphics hardware?squall_leonhart69r wrote:the only "Video Card" in that list is the Riva TNT.

Just ignore him. He acts like a jerk all the time anyway.odditude wrote:seriously? op says english isn't his first language and yet you nitpick on terminology in what is a remarkably useful post for users of older graphics hardware?squall_leonhart69r wrote:the only "Video Card" in that list is the Riva TNT.

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?
These suggestions are usually the solution to your issue!

all of them lack TNL (so, not even Direct3D7 compatible)
none of them have shaders
none of them have recent / supported Direct3D9 compliant drivers

i have a Riva 128ZX sitting in a box. it supports none of those things, but it is still a graphics accelerator on a pcb with a pci interface - a "Video Card."
you might have noticed that all of the hw mentioned by the op is ancient - did it occur to you that the intended audience is people who are stuck using outdated hw such as that (or, for that matter, have more important things to spend money on than a new computer)?

Squall, there is no need or reason to be a pedant and pick at useless points. Stay on topic, or don't post.
