AVI recording turns off the sound

Post by DeadMan »

I recently got Snes9x to try to do some Let's Play stuffs. I launched my ROM and everything was working fine. I clicked Record AVI and the sound turned off. When I went back and watched the recording, though, there was sound. Any idea how I can get sound in game while recording? Also, any way to make the screen bigger while playing? I'm new to using this kind of stuff so I don't really know how to work anything.

This is currently not possible - if you record avi, all sound is redirected to the recording.

To get a bigger screen simply resize the window. You might have to enable "strech image" if the image itself is not getting larger.

Here's how I record things using the built in recorder:

I first play the game but record my keystrokes by choosing Move Record... from the file menu. This will then record all of the keystrokes you perform. Once you are done, from the same menu, tell it to stop recording the movie. Afterwords, tell it to play back the movie (which is now, by default, a ROMFILENAME.smv file inside the Movies folder where snes9x.exe is), and a small properties window will open. Tell it to reset the game when starting the ROM, and click Play or OK. Then quickly start recording to AVI. Just watch it do it's thing and when it's done, it will continue recording to AVI after the keystroke recording ends, so if you accidentally record too far, just trim it with a video editor. From there in the video editor you can include voice overs, sound effects, etc.

I hope this helps you!

Here's a video I did using that method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74tpa7JjiUM&feature=plcp
