It seems in snes9x 1.52 the sound code was reworked. From the snes9x 1.52 change log:
Now, you should wait for one of the snes9x developers to answer to this thread to learn more about what was reworked. The interpolation was probably replaced by something better.
Code: Select all
- Replaced APU emulation cores (SPC700 and S-DSP) with
ones provided by Blargg's SNES_SPC library. This renders
savestates incompatible with older versions. (BearOso, zones)
(...)
- Win32: Reworked settings dialogues to accomodate the
new APU core and display settings. (OV2)
That option is gone and never coming back. Gaussian interpolation is part of correctly reproducing SNES hardware and affects the DSP output, so removing it would hamper accuracy.
And if you're that guy who posted a while back asking the same thing, then no, coming back in 3 months to ask again isn't going to change anything.

Perhaps it stresses their soundcard too much?the_randomizer wrote:I've always wondered why people want to turn off interpolation.

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?
These suggestions are usually the solution to your issue!

If someone's sound card can't handle Snes and/or Gaussian interpolation, then there's something terribly wrong, as I doubt Nintendo SMP/SPC700 emulation output is that demanding. Technically, my sound card is "crap" compared to most others out there since it's over four years old and integrated, but all programs work fine.
