Bad transparency effects and others in Snes9X...?

Post by adventure_of_link »

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits
CPU: AMD A8 2.4GHz quad-core CPU
Video card: ATi/AMD Radeon HD 6620G w/ 2GB V-RAM
4GB RAM
Snes9X version: 1.53 64-bits, latest test version

NSRT Info of the offending game:

Code: Select all

NSRT v3.3 - Nach's SNES ROM Tools

---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
       File: Final Fantasy III.sfc

Country: USA Revision: 1.1
Port 1: Gamepad Port 2: Gamepad
Genre 1: RPG Genre 2: Turn Based
the problem:

When going up the mountain after you visit South Figaro and the house where Sabin supposedly lives, there's a save point somewhere in the middle of this particular dungeon (I forgot the name of it off-hand, and I just started this game, mind you).

Upon hitting the save point, the blue aura comes up and the sound plays as it should, except the transparency effect for the beam of light above the save point is broken. it restores after the aura and sound go away though.

What's up? :?

EDIT: On another note, no matter what game I play, it seems parts of my controller don't work when I alt+tab out of and/or into snes9x, regardless of game.. anytime it does this, the buttons still work in the game controller test app.

Double EDIT: Anytime I put my mouse pointer over the Snes9X window, the mouse pointer disappears until I alt+tab out of Snes9X. if my mouse pointer is over the window where Snes9X was, it disappears when I alt+tab into Snes9X.

Triple EDIT: I meant to say Windows 7 instead of XP, whoops

FF3 issue happens on real hardware.
"double-edit" - likely intentional, thank god. make the cursor go away while i'm playing, thank you VERY much.

Fair enough, thanks man.

I concur with making it go away, but make the cursor come back when I move the mouse, not locking it in until I alt-tab out of Snes9X. gets aggravating when I want to pick a new ROM to play or adjust settings or something.

if I wanted my cursor locked out I'd use ZSNES, otherwise, gimmie control of my cursor.

EDIT: Just started Snes9X to confirm another bug a user is having, and upon loading the ROM and playing it, I was able to have full control of my cursor, regardless of how often I alt-tab out of Snes9X and any other window. (I'm playing Secret of Mana this time)

That sounds like you've enabled "Use SNES Mouse". Normally the mouse is hidden after two seconds and should reappear instantly once you move it.

Makes sense. I was blindly pressing number buttons when I was testing the transparency effects (I forgot which one it was off-hand and pressed the one for the controls)

thanks man.
