Umihara Kawase screen flickering (Snes9x 1.53)

The screen in Umihara Kawase flickers using Snes9x 1.53 (Win32).

This screen flickering is not present in Snes9x 1.52 and bsnes v080-Compatibility.

Stick around for a bit; one of the port maintainers will eventually poke their head in here.

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?
These suggestions are usually the solution to your issue!

As a result of big improvements of timings, some games which worked wrongly in previous versions have begun to get some problems. I'm not sure yet whether that's the case or not for this game though.

Won't 1.53 have some fixes that Byuu suggested to be made?

That's probably the case here, yes. Umihara does funky things with the water at the bottom of the maps; it was a long time before emulators could deal with it. The flicker here is exactly how it used to perform.
