Logitech Gamepad F310, profiler version 5.10.127 help!

Post by emetic bomb »

hey guys, signed up just to ask.

as i said i have a Logitech Gamepad F310, and the profiler software that downloaded with it was version 5.10.127 (can't install older versions).

i was really hoping to play super demo world and some of the more challenging SMW hacks, but i am stumped as to how to get the gamepad to input/work with the emulator as a rom is playing. i've got the keys set up perfectly, that was the easy part, but i get no response when the game is up and running.

any help? thanks in the future.

Snes9x supports all game pads that use DirectInput. If it's supported by DirectInput, It WILL work in Snes9x. Just press the desired buttons on the controller when you open the control config window. Make sure the controller is plugged in BEFORE starting up Snes9x too.

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?

logitech f310 gamepad not working

Post by atreus2k »

I am having the exact same problem! I just want to play my snes games :-(

SNES9x latest version
windows 7 64-bit
and logitech f310 gamepad usb ( it has directinput support according to here : http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/controllers )

snes9x can map the keys just fine, but when you load roms there is just no input! I'm not sure wtf is going on with this. the controller works fine in every other application ive used it in so I know it's working

anyone have a solution?

It sounds like there might be a problem with the profiler not liking the two different ways SNES9x deals with input. If it can map the keys, it's using directInput, but it seems for some reason it doesn't stick with that once emulation starts. Maybe it's trying to keep controls exclusive to the setup screen..? Without having a similar controller myself, I can't dig into it very far, but it's an odd problem.

A workaround is to use a program that translates button presses into keystrokes. If you grab the utility 'Joystick 2 Mouse' you can (with some effort, admittedly) remap all the buttons to the keyboard and use it that way. It takes some doing to figure out how to work the utility, but it's invaluable. I use it for DOS games through DOSbox as well, and it works like a charm.

Snes9x does not use DirectInput in any way. It still uses plain windows multimedia functions for all gamepad/joystick input.

The input dialog and the normal input routines use the same procedure for detecting input. If it works during mapping then it should also work in the game. Have you tried restarting snes9x after mapping? Is the correct input device selected in the input menu? Have you made sure the snes controller is enabled?
