Question about save states

Hello everyone, i have a question:

Is it possible to use more than 10 save states per rom?
Save states are numbered from 000 to 009, that's why I was thinking it might be possible to have a max of 1000 saves per rom. Yet I could not find any information about this on the internet, and I could really use those extra saves!

currently, your workaround would be to rename the save state extensions manually, and rename them back if you need to load.
