Keys not working?

If you're having problems with Snes9x, or think you've found a bug, this is the place to be.

Keys not working?

Post by PyramidHeadLove »

Forgive me if this is a complete noob question, but I installed Snex9x the other day and none of the buttons work. My cursor disappears when I move over it, which I suppose isn't necessarily a bad thing, but enter is my select and space is my start, and neither of those work, either. Am I doing something completely wrong?

First off, make sure 'SNES Joypad(s)' is selected in the 'Input' menu.

Then, go into the Input Configuration screen, select Joypad #1 in the Controller pull-down menu, and make sure the 'Enabled' checkbox is checked. Double-check your keybindings while you're there too.

To see if SNES9x is seeing your keypresses properly at all, hit the comma key. That'll pop up a display that shows what buttons the emulator thinks you're pressing.

If the mouse disappears you've probably selected "Use SNES Mouse" in the input menu. Switch that to "Use SNES Joypad(s)".
