Downloaded save wont work!

So i read tutorials on every subject of this and followed step by step of what to do and nothing worked. I am going through Chrono Trigger and recording the fight with Magus, then I am ripping out the audio, converting it to wma format and using it as my ringtone. I downloaded an srm file and im using v1.51 of snes9x. Altogether, I put the srm in the folder with the rom, AND the save directory. I deleted anything else that had to deal with Chrono Trigger except for the rom. Including save states and the old srm file. I made sure they had the SAME EXACT name and when I went and loaded the game, the old save came up. Not the one I downloaded. Is the save data in the ROM itself? Can i fix this? What am i doing wrong?

The srm file needs to have the same name as the rom and needs to be placed in the SRAM directory - check in options->settings where that is in your case.
