when i open snes9x it appears a warning

the warning is
Failed to inicialize currently selected display output!
Try switching to a different output method in the display settings
and if i try to load a rom it doesnt respond and then it closes

Go into video settings and try a different output method (DirectDraw / Direct3D / OpenGL).

i did that but the sound gets laggy and the image is just white if i change the rom for example first open super metroid then open megaman x it doesnt even make sound anymore
