Chrono Trigger won't do new game plus

So I have the latest version of SNES9X and I finished the game through Black Omen and I wait until the End Game screen and then I reset the game using the console. No new game plus. Any thoughts? Is this an emulator thing? Is there a work around for this? Thanks in advance!

This isn't an emulation issue. It may be either an issue with your ROM or an issue with your save file or something. Instead of using save states, just save normally in-game. Save at the last save point right before the final boss fight(s) and then beat the Black Omen and Lavos.

After the entire credits have ended, the game will reach 'The End' screen and then you do 'Reset Game' on the emulator and you should be able to do New Game Plus after that.
