luxm generic 3$ snes controller

Trying to get my luxm snes like joypad to run with the snes 9x v1.53 , but im not getting any buttons to work. Setting are 'use snes joypad' and input controller is for joypad 1 and is enabled. Not sure what the deal is. It installed drivers when i plugged it in to usb.

assuming this is under windows, what results do you get in the game controllers control panel (joy.cpl)?
