Save game does not work from V1.36

Post by roninator2 »

I downloaded the new snes9x x64 V1.53 and it works on my windows 8.1, but cannot get my old saves to work (V1.36). Is there a way to convert the save file, or am I stuck with the old version until I have finished the game?
Keep getting an error message saying file not in snes file format. but loads fine in old version of program.

seems like you're trying to load the save directly instead of a ROM.

anyway, battery (in-game) saves (*.srm) will work just fine, as long as they're in the right place. save states will not.

Yes I guess that how its done. Well when you start your game and you go to file save state it makes the save file. This does not load in new program version, and trying to load an srm save will not work either.

Copy the .srm file to the folder configured as SRAM directory.

That was the trick. sort of. I had to do a little work. I had two folders with the same games in them (for each version). going into each game and saving 'in game' then moving and renaming the srm file. then loading saved game and saving a save state. now all my games are transferred to the new version.
Also had some quirk with custom rom load option shown in your picture.

New version is way better as now the screen is bigger. Awesome. Thanks.
