Types of saves? :o

Post by snesnewb »

Hey guys.

I love SNES! And am trying to understand how it works...

Can you please help me figure out what these different save states mean?

000 file
008 file
OOPS file
SRM file

I assume that the "000 file" is "Save State" saves...

But then what would the OOPS and SRM files mean?

Sorry for newbie questions, I look forward to any help.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help

  • 000 to XXX are save state files(freeze files).
  • OOPS is a safety save state created when you've played for more than 5 minutes without saving a state and you quit the emulator/load a new game/load another state.
  • SRM is the battery powered SRAM on the cartridge that contains in-game saves. Note that this is included in save states, so loading an older save state can overwrite your saved progress.
Note that even though the file is somewhat outdated, most of this is explained in readme-windows.txt ;)
