snes9x too fast, silent.

Hi all,

I read the FAQ (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4854) and googled around, but I'm having no luck slowing down my extremely fast emulation.

I don't get any noticeable effects from the +/- keys, the tab key, or changing the Frameskip option in preferences. My FPS reads consistently around 300+.

I don't hear any sound from snes9x; perhaps this is related?

I'm running slackware64-14.1 linux on a quad-core AMD 9600.

I've tried assigning the frame skip, frame time, and turbo shortcuts, but those controls have no noticeable effect on my frame rate.

Thoughts?
