Snes9x speed boost

Post by Luktom101 »

Hi there :D

I have a small question about Snes9x speed option. Since Snes always had problems with proper speed in some games like, the Super Star Wars Trilogy, and developers are not so keen on overclocking their EMU's i would like to ask. Would it be possible, to add "Automatic" feature, under the "Speed" tab, just like it is done under the "Frameskip" tab? Im asking, becouse ive noticed, that setting the speed level to 110%, combined with Automatic frameskipping set on 2 helps with some of the Snes slowdowns a little bit.

The goal of Snes9x is to emulate correctly, SNES lag included. If you're looking for a emulator that will "overclock" as needed for certain games, UOSNES might be a better option, as it uses tons of per-game specific tweaks to optimize and make each game run smoothly (despite it not being fully accurate). I know for a fact that Snes9x's SuperFX core is poorly optimized (and has been since v1.51, so it's REALLY laggy). Super Star Wars has always had lag issues with their Mode 7 segments in the game, and Snes9x is simply recreating this.

Hope this answers your question.

What operating system are you using? 32 or 64bit? Version of Snes9x? Is the text at the bottom of the window white when you load the game?

OMG, UOSNES is amazing. It kills all lag, and slowdowns completely. Too bad that it isnt updated more often. I didnt even know, that an EMU like this exist. How come an emulator like this is not very well known. There is sooo little INFO about it on Google. Compared to Snes9x or Zsnes it almost dosent exist. Are there more Emulators like this ??
