Ahh, I figured out the problem!!! So the PS3 was saving to the srm file ok. The problem was that SNES9x EX does auto save states. So those files were interfering somehow, and not allowing me to load the saved progress from my PS3. All I had to do was delete the two saved state files in my phones ROM...
