Pick up the .oops file in the "Freezes" folder, rename it to .frz and load it manually from "Option - Defrost State from..." menu.

I'm not sure what happens, but you may try to use Configure Controllers dialog; it may recognize your on-board keyboard.

This option eliminates copying the texture from the main memory to GL memory, and should enhance the performance.

The message appears, but defrosting seems to work fine for me, running OS X 10.8... are you using 1.53(113)?

'Freeze' and 'defrost' in fact derive from the old snes9x readme.txt. Not a mac only thing, but it spreads only in mac culture. In snes9x source codes, it's mainly called as 'snapshot'. Anyway we call it 'savestate' here. I'm not sure why Freeze/Defrost screen doesn't work for you. To manually read ...
