On the main menu, go to 'On-screen Input Setup'...
...and then ensure that 'Use Virtual Gamepad' is set to 'On'.

There is indeed a way! In the hotkey configuration (alt+F9), click on the white box next to 'movie frame count' and press escape, and do the same for 'show pressed keys'. That should disable both of those inputs.
