Replying to my own post... It turns out that bug has been fixed in the latest git version.

Notice the artifacts with 100% scanlines vs no scanline effect. See the top of the larger BITMAP BROTHERS text.

Scanlines scaling filter in GTK Snes9x port

I've been experimenting with the scanlines scaling filter in the Snes 9x GTK port (on Linux). It's pretty strange and I'm wondering what the advantage of it is supposed to be. In the Windows port there's a simple scanlines output mode which just makes every other row black. That's nice and can give ...

100% CPU usage when paused on Snes9x Linux GTK+ port v.82

I'm using Lubuntu 11.10 x86-64, Nvidia binary driver v304, Snes9x 1.53 GTK+ port version 82. When the sync to vertical blank option is not enabled, Snes9x uses 100% CPU time when emulation is paused, or when e.g. the preferences or Open ROM Image window is open. Also there's a significant difference...

I guess quite a few PAL versions of games have adjusted timing. Probably Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars would be the most common examples. Thankfully though, from the point of view of emulator use, it seems most developers were lazy and gameplay on a real PAL console was just slowed dow...

As far as I know Snes9X-EX is hard-coded to emulate an NTSC console, so many PAL games will have problems on it.
I don't know whether the Snes9X-EX developer will see this message, maybe try reporting the issue by email; address is on his web site.
